Swoops, the Attack Bird

Go here for a highly entertaining and comprehensive blog about the antics of Swoops, Attack Bird of Front Street.

Swoops lives directly across from my office building and we have front row seats to a very entertaining wildlife versus mankind drama every day.  Two of my office mates have been ‘Swooped.’  I’ve wandered the same path without incident.  I wasn’t even aware of Swoops until Tuesday.

Hours of entertainment.  The roar of the crowds that gather when Swoops hits an unsuspecting passerby is reminiscent of audiences at WWF events. He and his mate have garnered quite a following, making news as far away as the U.K.

I’m not sure what the Financial District crowds will do when Swoops’s kids are grown up and he doesn’t have a nest to protect any more…  Maybe gladiatorial combat will make a comeback!

Four and a Half Cherries, with Whipped Cream on Top!

Ripping the Bodice just got an awesome review from Whipped Cream Reviews and Dana/Inara is happy dancing again.  Time for Angry Torso Man to ‘glare’ at you (his nipples are really eyes, see, and he’s glaring with them) again!

Here’s a teaser…

Ripping the Bodice is clever and witty in its use of the romance genre to explore how too much of a good thing can twist a woman’s expectations, landing her in hilarious hot water.

Please read the rest and leave a comment on the review site if you have a sec!  And thank you, to the lovely  Xeranthemum, for her more than kind words about my writing!

Today is the first of many Ravenous guests posts on Unbound!  Adele (aka Hagelrat) has invited us to take over the blog every other Wednesday, so yours truly will be hosting a different RR author (or two) as they share their thoughts on writing, reading, romance, ???  I intend to slip some zombieage in there along the way, of course.

Our first author up is Lexi Ryan, the author of the paranormal romance Stilettos, Inc.  Please stop by and comment!

“Ultra sexy, chock full of compelling heroes and feisty, independent heroines, Ms. Ryan delivers a delicious, action-packed paranormal adventure not to be missed.” –Best-selling author Emma Wildes

“I was ensnared by the story. It’s hard to touch on all the reasons I liked this book so much, as there are so many facets to the story. Suffice it to say that if you want something a little different with wonderful twists and turns along with some super steamy, passionate sex, this book will be right up your alley. Ms. Ryan is an excellent storyteller.” –Bookwenches.com (4.75 star review)

“The superhero aspect of the story is fun to read, and it is interesting to see a cross between a comic book hero and an erotic romance hero. The combination of the two makes this an excellent read.” –Coffee Time Romance (5 cup review)

“Humor, action and suspense. What more could you ask for?”–ParaNormalRomance

The Next Step!

I’ve mentioned my skill at walking and reading…so this is obviously the next step in Dana’s evolution as a multi-tasker!

“Walk and type at the same time! Walking upright is a sure sign that you’re evolved, but we think you should take it one step further and walk upright while computing. The Connect-A-Desk is a new product that gives you the ability to use your laptop with both hands free, to type while walking or standing. Includes the laptop harness & desk, everything you need to use your laptop computer while standing. Works with any size laptop, notebook, or tablet computer. Adjustable to fit any size person. Quick and easy to put on and take off and ergonomically designed for comfort. It’s truly mobile and portable, no need for a laptop cart or stand. Connect-A-Desk makes any laptop truly mobile. Taking notes with a full size keyboard while having the ability to move around can be of great value to almost any laptop user.”

I really really really want this…

Virtual Writers’ Conference!

Color me embarrassed, but I forgot to post about this earlier!  I’m part of a virtual writers’ conference being put on by the lovely and talented Gayle Trent, author of Murder Takes the Cake (highly recommended by Yours Truly!).   Authors, editors and agents share war stories and advice at this cost free, cyber-conference.  To quote Gayle’s introductory speech, “So while we will not be serving food, what we will be serving up is plenty of helpful information and advice. This advice will come from authors, journalists, freelance writers, columnists, editors, publishers and agents. Two agents are seeking new clients. Come back on Friday for more information on those agents and the types of manuscripts they’re looking for.”   For the rest of her intro, go here.

My article is here, but I encourage you to read all of the posts and check back later for new ones!  In the archives are fun and informative articles on the editing process, fan fic, writing YA, and much more!

Because of a special promo on Ravenous today…

…check out who’s in the number one slot for the first time? Yes, I am easily pleased with things like this. 🙂  I also got my print copy of Ripping the Bodice from Amazon and it is quite lovely, if I do say so myself!  And I do!  Love having Angry Torso man cover art on my vanity book shelf at home.

Taking a Break from Erotic Romance, back to my Mystery roots!

Tuesday night I participated in a mystery writer panel along with fellow authors Ann Parker (Silver Rush mysteries), Mark Coggins (August Riordan series) and Camille Minichino (Periodic Table mystery series) at the Castro Valley Library.

To the right are me and Ann, while below Ann and I listen in evident fascination to Mark.  And below that you can see throngs (yes, that’s right!  Throngs!) of audience members coming up after the talk to buy copies of our books.  That’s Camille at the far end of the table, btw.  All in all a very satisfying event!

Slowly Returning to Life

I have been taking a well-deserved break from…well…everything except felines, work and my WIP for the last week, but it’s time to get back into the swing of things and start blogging again.

I recently read a novel in which this sentence was used: “He kissed me with his lips.”  Needless to say (but I really NEED to say it!), my first thought was “Well, what the heck else would he kiss her with?”

So I saw my 3 year old niece, G,  a couple weeks ago.  Let me just interject that my niece is an abnormally bright kid, beautiful and perfect in every way.  No, I am not biased.   At any rate, my sis-in-law told me an anecdote where G pooted and said, “My butt blew a kiss!”

Not only was this one of the funniest things I’ve heard from anyone, let alone a kid, but it also answered my question above.

Did I mention I love my niece?  🙂

Last Stop!

Please join us at Night Owl Romance for the final stop of the Ravenous Romance Ornery Eleven BBT!  Today all of our authors will tell you what they want readers and writers to know about Ravenous Romance.  One last chance to win the grand prize of $25 gift certificate for Ravenous Romance (that’s five e-books!) and to show the authors and our lovely hostess, Tammie, some love!
