A Nice Surprise for Inara
And for me as well, of course! One of my Google alerts brought up this link to Blood Red Pencil and I found a lovely little review of Ripping the Bodice by author Charlotte Phillips, along with recommendations for some other fun reads for adults. All of which I plan on checking out, along with Charlotte’s books! Unlike many of my fellow authors, the thought of an expanding To Be Read pile fills my heart with joy and anticipation rather than dread. I loves to read, I does…
A little info on Charlotte while we’re here:
Charlotte Phillips is the co-author of the Eva Baum Detective Series, 2009 President for The Final Twist Writers Group and contributor to multiple blogs. Learn more about Charlotte and her books here!
Thank you, Charlotte for a lovely and unexpected treat on this rainy Friday!
Romantic Times Review for RIPPING THE BODICE
This pleasing story bears some resemblance to Northanger Abbey, with the heroine’s love of bodice rippers parallelling Austen’s heroine’s love of gothic literature. Telling the same story from two characters’ perspectives doesnt always work, but Cassandra’s daydreams are amusing and light, the characters are well drawn and the romance is familiar without becoming cliched.
Being compared to Jane Austen? WOOT!!!! Thank you, Michelle W.!
Ravenous Romance on HSN!!!
Okay! My book, Ripping the Bodice, is part of the Escape with Romance collection featured on HSN tomorrow. Ravenous co-founder Holly Schmidt will be live on HSN at 8:35 AM and 4:35 PM on Monday, September 14th, and at 3:00 AM on Tuesday, September 15th, talking about the 4 collections (paranormal, historical, contemporary & sampler pack). These times are eastern standard time, btw! And yes, I know they have my name wrong in the Contemporary list. I am NOT Keta Diablo. But my heroine IS reading her book, Land of the Falling Stars, on the cover of MY book. So it’s kind of a funny mistake!
I’m delighted to be included in this opportunity and a hearty congrats to my fellow RR authors, and to Holly, Lori and Allan! Please go check out the link to see the other authors and titles featured!
From the HSN Web Site:
“Voyage to a distant land where fantasy and passion ignite. The Escape with Romance Exclusive 6-Book Collection is a fascinating compilation of stories filled with infatuation, excitement and of course, love. These tales will evoke the internal fires that burn deep within us all. Choose from the 3 collections; the romantically nostalgic Historical genre, the futuristic and supernatural of the Paranormal genre, or the modern-day heroines of the Contemporary genre. Plus, if you can’t decide choose the Sampler, which includes 2 books from every genre, so you can get a little bit of it all. Suddenly, reading just got a lot more interesting.
Four and a Half Cherries, with Whipped Cream on Top!
Ripping the Bodice just got an awesome review from Whipped Cream Reviews and Dana/Inara is happy dancing again. Time for Angry Torso Man to ‘glare’ at you (his nipples are really eyes, see, and he’s glaring with them) again!
Here’s a teaser…
Ripping the Bodice is clever and witty in its use of the romance genre to explore how too much of a good thing can twist a woman’s expectations, landing her in hilarious hot water.
Please read the rest and leave a comment on the review site if you have a sec! And thank you, to the lovely Xeranthemum, for her more than kind words about my writing!

Angry Torso is Back!
But this time…he’s going to print!
Yup, Ravenous Romance is releasing a selection of their best-selling books in print format, to be available in approximately a month and RIPPING THE BODICE is one of them. If this goes well, other RR titles will also go into print. I’m delighted because now I can add RtB to my coffee table collection of my books where I’ll be able to look at Angry Torso Man whenever I want!
Kudos to April Martinez, Ravenous Romance’s cover artist, btw!
Just When I Started Getting Sulky…
…about lack of time to do online promotions for my books, I got an email from Teagan at Bookwenches.com that they’d reviewed Ripping the Bodice. Just the pick-me-up I needed for the day! Here’s a brief excerpt:
“If you’re looking for a big dose of fun to go along with your romance, look no farther than Inara Lavey’s novel Ripping the Bodice. This story positively sparkles with wit and humor that will keep the reader laughing all the way through and wondering what on earth could possibly happen next.”

Two More Good Reviews for Ripping the Bodice
And Dana/Inara do (does?) a happy dance!
First, an excerpt from Nixy Valentine:
“The book is peppered with dreams and daydreams in which our romance-loving protagonist perpetually indulges. Each one more silly than the last, and they get downright funny when Cassandra’s “real life” begins to intrude upon her fantasies. The story is one of personal growth and the conflict between fantasy and reality, and is cleverly written with wit.”

And from Moira with The Girls on Books:
“As my first introduction to Ms Lavey’s writing, I am impressed. The story was lighthearted and fun, full of witty comments and charm. “

Please leave comments at these blogs. I really appreciate the time and thought that went into both interviews and want to send traffic their way.
And now back to work on Champagne…
